Assassin Class Guide

An Ulala Idle Adventure Class Guide by KidMaven of NA-Allosaurus (KidMaven#8980),  and edited by Sureiya of NA-Allosaurus.

(Updated 04/07/2021 – Updated to include new clatter and new pets**)

Before we start with this guide, please understand that the game of Ulala is ever-changing and that over time, the information found on this guide may eventually become obsolete. Due to the fact that we do not have a wiki for the game, a lot of the information you may find here may be considered theorycrafting because of the fact that we do not have concrete data from the developers and is just based on my own personal observation and time playing the game.

Class Overview

AssassinA fast attack speed, melee, frontlining DPS (damage per second) class whose main focus is either dealing damage over time or burst damage depending on the preferred playstyle. Due to the fact that it has high attack speed and is positioned in the front along with the tank, the tempo of the party is mainly determined by this class. Highlight features of this class include its highly glorified poison DoT(damage over time) and its backstab burst rotation.

Pros:

  • Quick skill rotations
  • Snapshot-able DoT skill (Poison)
  • Amazing single target damage
  • Free-To-Play Friendly
  • Godly late game capability

Cons:

  • Lackluster AOE damage output
  • Party must build around Assassin in party
  • Horrendous early game potential
  • Very technical class with a sharp learning curve
  • Front line class

Attributes/Tempers

Attributes:

Agility (AGI) – Increases Attack, Hit and Impale.

Stamina (STA) – Increases HP, Block and Evasion.

Technique (TECH) – Increases Armor, Crit and Tenacity

Recommended Builds:

PvM: 3 AGI | 0 STA | 2 TECH

  • Focuses mainly on damage output and overall performance trusting that the other party members can fulfill and manage their own roles efficiently. Great for heavy pushing.

PvP: 3 AGI | 2 STA | 0 TECH

  • PVP build focusing on high damage output while adding stamina to add additional sustain anticipating that you will take damage throughout the fight. Used mainly for PVP-related events like Arena/Tournament/Clan Wars.

PvE: 3 AGI | 1 STA | 1 TECH

  • Again, another damage focused skill but this time balancing out the sustain with additional damage capability. Typically used in lower level parties where the party composition and playstyle has not yet been identified.

Class Bonus Talent:

Grants the player additional attributes bonuses to the Assassin’s Pet. The effect of this increases by each transcend.

**Additional Pet Stat Buff (At Max Transcend)**

+5% to Symbiosis

+5% to Guardian

+10% to Assist

Temper:

HP – Increases total hit points to your HP Pool.

ATK – Increases attack damage.

ARMOR – Increases defense and reduces the character’s damage taken.

HIT – Increases hit rate or accuracy.**

EVASION – Increases evasion. (No damage is taken when attack is evaded.)**

CRIT – Increases crit rate of attacks and skills.**

TENACITY – Reduces chances of being hit by critical attacks and reduces its damage.**

BLOCK – Increases block rate. (Damage is reduced if attack is blocked.)**
IMPALE – Lowers chance of attack/skills being blocked and increases Crit Damage.**

** = Stat efficiency is affected by the level gap of your character and the boss’ level.

Recommended Builds:

ATK/HP/CRIT/IMPALE – Glass cannon build with high damage output but soaks up a lot of damage potentially giving your healer a harder time with sustaining the party.

ATK/HP/CRIT/4IMPALE|4DEF – Less damage output when compared to the pure impale build but allows tankability for your Assassin thus allowing your healer to focus mainly on the tank. Great build especially for those who are the pushers of their team.

ATK/HP/CRIT/DEF – Solid damage dealer with great capability to sustain itself in the frontlines without the additional damage from impale adding to crit. Great build to switch to if a major PVP event is approaching.

Clatter Cards

A lot of what we know of today about clatter cards has changed due to the fact that many updates have gone through the game making a majority of the stats/bonuses offered by clatter cards to be considered… weak or lackluster thus the importance of chasing after modifiers/effects that will buff our overall output. The builds below will present the standard to more updated builds including the logic behind each build. It is important to remember that clatter card effects that include percentage effects only effect and increase that stats obtained from clatter cards and does not affect our base stats.

To build your own clatter card set or if you would like to see its effects and stats, follow this link: https://kcvin94.github.io/ulalaClatterSimulator/

Build 1: 6 JAW / 3 Wing Build (PVM)

“Standard  Jaw build which can effectively be used by Assassins due to their ability to cycle through skill rotations quickly due to fast attack speed. The Jaw effect is further amplified by having Lava Beast and Tyrant Dragon adding an additional jaw layer per crit and with Typhoon Dragon adding 2 additional jaw layer per skill used. This build focuses on stat improvement when on the field gained from certain clatter effects.”

Build 2: Fluff Build (PVP)

When it comes to PVP in Ulala, 1 energy can make the difference between a win and a loss. This clatter card set is mainly used to give you that one additional energy advantage in PVP to quickly burst down the enemy before they can release their own skills on your party. Use this mainly for PVP-related events as you won’t be able to utilize jaw as much in a PvP situation since a majority of PvP fights are settled in less than 12 seconds with AOE skills.”

Build 3: Modified Jaw Build (PvE)

“Modified Jaw build focuses more on external effects to further increase damage. Because of the fact that plains and wings effect only affects stats gained clatter cards, I decided to add Oasis effect (enemy units with HP below 15%; basic attack + 35%) and Radobaan (enemy units with HP below 25%; basic attack + 3%) since secret is considered a normal, basic attack and gets buffed by both effects. The damage lost from losing 3 Wings effect is countered with additional damage when the enemies hp is below a certain threshold making this clatter more scalable compared to the traditional 6JAW/3WING build.”

Build 4: Revamped Modified Jaw Build (PvE)

“Revamped Modified Jaw build focuses more on external effects to further increase damage. Because of the fact that plains and coast only affect the stats of clatter cards, I decided to add Poison to the mix. Poison adds a 15% chance for basic attacks to deal 70% additional DMG. In late C5 and onwards this adds more to your total damage than the coast stat increase.

Skills and Skill Rotations

Skill Tier Ranking – The skill tier ranking below is a personal view that not all players may share or agree with but has been a pattern i’ve observed and followed by many other players playing this class. The ranking will be based on usage and importance. This will not include EVO effects to cater to those just starting with the class.

TIER 1: Bush, Poison, Laceration, Ambush, Roundhouse Kick

All skills in tier 1 are skills related to maximum damage output and CC capability. The said skills should be obtained immediately and max’d out to its highest quality as early as possible.

TIER 2: Fatal Knives, Shiv, Bounce Bounce Bounce, Scatter Blade, Backstab

The skills in tier 2 are mainly AOE skills or skill effects that assist in connecting the effects of Tier 1 skills or perhaps is related an alternative DPS rotation.

TIER 3: Fan of Knives, Pounce, Rupture, Mortal Wounds

The skills in tier 3 are also skills that assist in buffing skills found in tier 2 or has a special effect.

TIER 4: (All skills not mentioned)

All remaining skills have minor effects that are seldomly used or used as fillers to add/delay skill release timing or has very weak effects.

Damage Skill Hierarchy:

Reverberating Slam – Basic Damage Skill

Pursuing – Basic Situational Skill (only use with poison if you have snow marmot)

Laceration – Better Basic Damage Skill (use when boss has high/er armor)

Reverberating Slam 2 – Best Basic Damage Skill

Pursuing 2 – Best Situational Damage Skill (only works with poison when using snow marmot; only good if damage dealt after transformation drops the bosses hp below 60%)

TL:DR

Pursuing 2 > Reverb 2 > Laceration > Pursuing > Reverb

Common Skill Rotations –

Single Target: Poison (Pre-Transformation)

Since transformation isn’t unlocked yet, Black moblin goes on Poison to buff your DoTs. You may start your rotation with Bush or with poison as long as you are lining up your second poison application to CTA. Marmot is on bush assuming you have not unlocked Snow Marmot yet.

Single Target: Poison (Post-Transformation)

Black Moblin is now on Bush anticipating you are transforming right after it to buff your “Starshatter”, poison application and Reverb II / Laceration. Skill order may be changed starting with Bush first or poison as long as your full transformation and second poison application get buffed.

Single Target – Backstab (Post-Transformation)

Same logic as poison; the goal is to line up your transformation right after Bush + Black Moblin to buff Starshatter and your first major Backstab release. Use this rotation if you have high crit or need a burst damage rotation. This deals less damage overall compared to poison but is definitely good in certain situations where you cannot drag out the fight long for poison to do its work.

Multiple Target – AOE Build

In this build, a majority of the focus is on being able to pump out AOE damage. Great rotation for bosses who summon ads like any variation of ‘Wolves’.

Hybrid AOE Build

This build is mainly to assist with AOE damage while still dealing decent single target DoTs damage. Typically used on AOE bosses where you have assistance from another class to deal with the summons ads like Thunder Wolf King.

AFK Build

Bush into Bounce has been the longest standing AFK build due to its multiple target capability and large enough window to buff the main AOE skill. This AFK build when properly buffed with CTA/Lets Charge + Hermit Crab toy should enable your party to clear AFK mobs with a sub-20 second time.

PVP Build

Paired with Fluff clatter, this build focuses on being able to immediately one shot the entire backline or at least remove 1-2 members of their backline thus lightening the anticipated incoming damage. Laceration follows Fatal Knives in anticipation that if the backline has not died, they will die to your other DPS who is also dealing AOE damage allowing you to focus on the tank at hand who has not died yet.

Evolution/Upgraded Skills and Effects – unlocked on continent 2 via skill draw, these skills offer additional effects if their upgrade scroll is obtained. Some effects greatly improve damage output while others fit very niche situations or have lackluster effects. You can only obtain these by drawing the legendary (gold) version of this skill when drawing skills and cannot be purchased via Black Market.

**SCROLL DOWN TO NEXT PAGE**

Reverberating Slam II

An assassin’s best single target skill. Immediate replacement to Laceration.  Definitely a must have late game as this skill lines up well with the transformation-shatter-poison-damage skill buff window. Using a 3-count skill allows you to use ‘Secret’ with Bush+Black Moblin up thus doing more damage.

Poison Coat II

Another must-have skill for Assassins late game. The two additional layers adds even more damage the longer the fight is dragged out. To confirm, the 2 additional layers does not affect or change how you should be buffing your transformation or second poison application.

Pursuing II

Pursuing II is a great alternative damage skill (if you have snow marmot) to lengthen the delay in your rotation for transformation should you have a lower level/rarity of Gifting Crystal although this skill does not allow you to line up your ‘Secret’ skill damage with Bush+Black Moblin even with maximum Charging  crystal rarity/quality. Great to have but not mandatory to chase after.

Mortal Wounds II

Mortal Wounds is a very situational skill which isn’t used too often. Normally used only when the boss has strong healing effects. Great to have but not mandatory to chase after.

Fatal Knife II

This skill is probably the best skill upgrade you can get for PvP. I deem this as definitely something to chase after the longer the game drags out as you may use this in your hybrid AOE build or deal more damage in PvP when in combination with other AOE skills. Definitely something worth chasing after.

Fan of Knives II

A not-so-great AOE skill upgrade. Increases target by one (1). Lackluster damage and is only used to buff Fatal Knife. Great to have but not mandatory to chase after.

Toys

Toys are basically add-on’s to skills for additional effects. The effects are activated upon usage of the skill it is placed on and ends before the usage of the next active damage-dealing skill. The detail underlined is very important to remember and understand as this is how Assassin’s deal massive amounts of damage late game. Understand and learn the function. Pay attention to detail as the further you progress into the game, the more important min-max’ing is.

CORE TOYS

Black Moblin – Increases attack by 50% until next skill. Use this on Poison if you have not unlocked transformation yet. If transformation is unlocked, place it on bush to buff both your transformation skill, ‘Starshatter’, along with poison.

Sabre Tiger King – Crit Rate Increases by 20% and Crit Damage increases by 50% until next skill. Place this on either your main DPS skill or Shiv. Interchangeable with Brown Bear depending on what is needed of the situation.

Brown Bear – Bypass 33% of the enemies armor until the next skill. Place this on your main DPS skill or Shiv. Interchangeable with Saber Tiger King depending on what is needed of the situation.

Snow Marmot – Gain 2 energy points upon casting skill. Use this on Bush if you have not unlocked transformation yet. If transformation is unlocked, place on poison. Useful for controlling skill release timing.

Marmot – Gain 1 energy point upon casting skill. Use this on Bush if you have not unlocked transformation yet. If transformation is unlocked, place on poison. Useful for controlling skill release timing. DO NOT SELL IF YOU HAVE UNLOCKED SNOW MARMOT.

SITUATIONAL TOYS

Bone Ankylosaur – After casting the skill this toy is attached to, immune to 1 fatal attack. Can be triggered twice per fight. Great for mitigating fatal damage from bosses with large AOE damage or just to lengthen out the fight.

Unicorn Gorilla – Enables cleave damage to 2 nearby enemies and inflicts bonus 100% of damage. Useful for lower level PvP fights or for bosses with weak adds.

Dandelion – After casting a skill, remove all debuffs/negative spells. Really important for fights where the AOE purge of your healer does not rotate fast enough. Useful in fights against bosses like Fire Ankylosaur in Firefly Summit (C5).

Yak King – Basic Attack increases by 80% for each point of energy until the next skill. Great alternative filler for Saber Tiger King when crit rate is low.

NON-ESSENTIAL TOYS

  1. Rex – Increases current skill level by 2. (Only applies to pre-breakthrough)

Moblin – Attack increases by 33% until the next skill.

Black Rock T. Rex – Increases current skill level by 2. (Applies to breakthrough skills)

Warg King – Recover 2 points of energy upon each dead enemy.

Big Tongue Flower – Before casting the next skill, each basic attack deals a bonus of 40% life steal effect. Any overflow of healing is converted into a shield for 10 seconds with a max of 30% of HP.

Wind Dragon – Gain shield based on 10% of your HP and immune to any form of crowd control.

Pets

Pets are essentially companions that add elemental value to your attacks while also assisting and buffing you during combat. They have their own active skills and passive abilities that you can modify in the Pet Interface. Utilizing pets to its full potential is important if you would like to juice out as much damage as possible.

To start off, pets should not be neglected. Along with toys, pets further buff your overall performance depending on what kind of pet you use to what type of skills are equipped on each pet. Assuming you already read this far into the guide, you have a basic understanding of pet rarity so we will not discuss that here. You may find guides pertaining to that on the official Ulala Discord.

THE ONLY PET YOU NEED IS PANDA.

Theory: While having a high elemental rating is important, Assassin benefit greatly from high assist pets equipped with Inspire. Inspire increases the master’s atk by a certain percentage of the pet’s assist for 6 seconds and can be timed with all major attack buffs to buff Starshatter AND poison.

Recommended Skills for Pets

Active: Inspire and Rend with Overcharge to replace Rend when it is at a high enough level.

Passive: Competitive Heart, Photosynthesis, Battle Heart, Sharptooth, Fury and  Pursuing.

Pet Tip: Pay close attention to when Inspire or Rend is triggered by your pet. Your level of Photosynthesis along with your pets attackspeed controls when Inspire is used to buff your character. The idea is to line up Inspire just right before transforming so that it buffs Starshatter along with poison. If needed, switch rend or inspire between slots one and two of your active skills to time it properly.

Transformation

Transformation is unlocked when all hero bonds have been completed. Transformation transforms your character into a transcendent being, releasing a powerful skill called ‘Starshatter’ upon transformation while also immediately gaining 3 energy. To transform, you earn 9 aggression points per normal attack. Once your aggression gauge reaches 100, transformation is then triggered. It is important to understand that even if you have full energy and are about to use a skill, if your aggression gauge hits 100 as you are about to use a skill, transformation will take priority and will occur first prior to using that skill wasting the free 3 energy.

Important Terminologies:

Transformation – Act of Transforming upon hitting 100 aggression points.

Starshatter – Skill used immediately upon transforming.

Gifting Points/Aggression Points – Points gained per normal attack before transforming used to transform.

Rage Points – Points obtained after transforming gained by normal attacking and is used for ‘Secret’ attack. Resets back to zero once Secret has been used.

Secret – Skill used upon gaining 100 rage points. Can be used multiple times in a fight as long as 100 rage points is gained.

Recommended Hero Crystals:

Skill Crystals

Gifting Crystal – Increases gained Aggression/Gifting points per attack. This essentially increases transformation speed.

Combo Crystal – Increases Starshatter damage depending on quality. The higher the rarity, the more hits are added to Starshatter. A definite must have to increase overall damage upon transformation.

Pursuing Crystal – Gives additional damage for each time a skill is used. Due to the fact that assassins can cycle through skills quickly, this is a must have for increasing damage output.

Charging Crystal – Increases rage points gained per attack. Rage points are gained per normal attack after transforming to be used to release secret upon gaining 100 rage points.

Secret Crystal – Hidden skill only released upon gaining 100 rage points. Increasing its quality increases its damage.

Piercing Crystal – Ignore the enemies level by a certain amount. Reduces Level Gap between yourself and the boss.

Swap-able Skill Crystals

Elemental Crystal – Increases Elemental Attribute Effect by a percentage. Minor damage increase based on elemental countering.

Resist Crystal – If your tank is alive, reduces damage by a percentage. Great alternative crystal to use if you survival issues or are in a PvP setting.

Shield Crystal – Gain a shield based on percentage of max HP at the start of the battle and lasts 10 seconds if not burned through. Interesting PvP skill crystal that offers a small cushion at the beginning of a fight.

Survival Crystal – When HP is below 30%, immediately gain a shield equal to a percentage of your max HP and lasts 5 seconds. Can only be triggered once. PvP Crystal which should only be used in a PvP setting.

ATK SPD Crystal – Increases attackspeed by a small margin. Definitely a utility crystal that may be used to hasten skill rotations and skill release timing. Important if your buff window is small and you need to shave a few seconds/milliseconds to buff all your important skills.

Attribute Crystals

Crit/Atk Crystal III

Crit/Atk Crystal II

Impale/Atk Crystal III

Impale/Atk Crystal II

Crit Crystal III

Crit Crystal II

Impale Crystal III

HP Crystal III

HP/Armor Crystal III

A majority of the attribute crystals focus on improving Attack damage, Critical Rate and further increasing sustainability in HP and Armor. It’s nice to go pure glass cannon to increase damage but it’s more important to cover sustainability in order for your party to continue to allow you to do as much damage as you can without having the party wipe.

Effective Transformation Guide

Since the introduction of transformation into Ulala, a majority of high level teams have shifted their buffing priority in order to maximize the massive damage dealt upon transforming. With different attack speeds and different individual progression of each character in-game, effectively utilizing and buffing your transformation can be a tough task but once mastered, being able to deal ridiculous amounts of damage becomes very easy.

If you are reading this guide, you likely are an assassin or have an assassin in your party. With that being said, you probably understand by now that if there is an Assassin in your party, they immediately get buff prioritization due to how much damage they can dish out if their second poison application is buffed. Keep this in mind as they set the tempo and your other DPS classes should be chasing after being able to transform in time with them for maximum damage.

Understanding the Logic–

Video Material: Video Example for Understanding Transformation

There are a lot of things going on in this video but I want you to focus on what happens upon the tank’s use of ‘Call to Arms/Let’s Charge’. In this specific instance, once the attack buff is released by the tank, all other members of the party transform right after, dishing out their transformation skill and gaining energy to immediately cast the next skill. This is ultimately the goal for any party when pushing — To be able to activate ALL atk buffs during the transformation time frame to release their buffed transformation skill to deal as much damage as possible.

Now I understand that some of you are low levels who just unlocked transformation or perhaps each member of the party has different transformation times due to different gifting crystals… and that’s okay. It’s more important to grasp and understand the concept first to be able to apply it to one member at a time as everyone improves their gifting crystals.

What affects transformation timing?

  • Gifting crystal rarity
  • The speed of each class to cycle through skills
  • The number of attacks needed per skill
  • Attackspeed
  • Enemy CC (Stuns/Knockbacks/Silence)

What can I do to further buff my transformation skill damage?

  • Call to Arms/Let’s Charge (Lasts 6 seconds)
  • Triceratops Toy of Warrior/Gladiator (Lasts 10 seconds upon attacking after activation)
  • Hermit Crab Toy of Druid/Shaman (Last 10 seconds after use of skill it is on)
  • Black Moblin on last used skill prior to transforming (Lasts until another damage-dealing skill is used)
  • Serenity of Mages
  • Bush of Assassins
  • Inspire from Pet (lasts 6 seconds)

The idea is to raise up ALL buffs prior to transformation in order to abuse the absurd, buffed damage output of transforming.

EXAMPLE:

In the screenshot above, you can see CTA going off at 22.90. Transformation of the warlock after a few hits in this screenshot is roughly at 23 seconds while the assassin and shaman transform at about the 23.50 mark thus buffing all three remaining members of the party with call to arms. Another buff brought up is Hermit Crab toy from the shaman going off at 20.13 and lasts for 10 seconds so that also is counted and buffs all three transformations. Another toy coming into play is Triceratops toy of the tank going off 1 attack after his skill on 13.89 which is roughly around the 15 second mark and also lasts 10 seconds all the way up to the 25 second mark.

As for individual buffs for each class, the assassin in the screenshot above uses Bush + Black Moblin prior to transforming so the transformation skill is buffed with both attack modifiers while still carrying that over to poison since transformation is not considered an attack skill but a modified normal attack. The stipulation of Black Moblin is that you must use a damage dealing skill in order for it to cancel and that would be Reverberating Slam II thus allowing both the transformation and poison to get buffed by Bush + Black Moblin. As for the warlock, Medicine Frog in this instance had Black Moblin (as awkward as it is) to dish out even more damage on transformation rather than typically leaving it on Soul Seal. While most people understand that we should put black moblin on DoTs like poison and Soul Seal, we gain more damage overall buffing transformation.

To recap with a timeline–

BUFF WINDOW:

Call to Arms –  22.90 – 28.90

Hermit Crab – 20.13 – 30.13

Triceratops (from first attack of last stand) – 15.00 – 25.00

Black Moblin on Assassin – From Bush until Reverb Slam II

Black Moblin on Warlock – From Medicine Frog to Soul Seal

Inspire from Assassin’s pet – 22.00 – 28.00

Inspire from Warlock’s pet – 21.00 – 27.00

Inspire from Shaman’s pet – 21.20 – 27.20

OPTIMAL TRANSFORMATION WINDOW WITH ALL BUFFS UP: 22.90 – 25.00

Do everything in your power to stuff all your transformations in this small window and you will deal out crazy stupid damage. It varies from party to party depending on atkspeed, skills being used and gifting crystals but the point is to buff transformation even if it’s just your assassin for the mean time until people’s gifting crystals progress.

Snapshotting Guide

One of the most essential mechanics Assasins must understand and master in order to progress quicker is the art of Snapshotting. So what is it and why is it so important? What can I snapshot and why do people talk about it so much?

Snapshot – “The act of locking in a buff applied to a skill prior to applying/reapplying the DoT skill so that the buff stays on that skill for its duration.”

Layman’s terms: “The act of permanently buffing your DoT skill for the duration of the fight.”

So what exactly can we “snapshot” for assassins? Poison. Poison can be snapshotted to freeze all buffs applied to him at the time of application. Poison is the strongest skill Assassins have and the way it works is it deals more damage the longer it stays on the enemy boss. Normally, when we apply buffs to our party, it runs for a duration of time and when that duration is up, your damage returns back to normal. In the case of poison, if you buff poison, it retains that buff for that skill until you re-apply poison and it then eventually reaches max stacks.

What can be snapshotted?

  • Assassin’s Poison
  • Warlock’s Soul Seal
  • Hunter’s Summon Gal Hawk

The way each of the skills listed above all have different behaviors and are treated differently. In this guide I’m going to teach you how to snapshot Poison since this is an Assassin guide.

What can we buff onto our Poison for Snapshotting?

  • Call to Arms of Warriors
  • Let’s Charge of Gladiators
  • Hermit Crab Toy of Healers
  • Inspire skill from Pets
  • Bush of Assassins
  • Black Moblin Toy (Especially if you haven’t unlocked transformation yet.)

So, why is it important? Why does this small detail matter so much? Why the hell is it so complicated? There are a lot of questions that can be thrown regarding Snapshotting as its a very complicated mechanic so I’m going to explain this in the most simple manner possible without trying to get technical.

Snapshotting is important because poison is already an OP skill. Being able to buff it only makes it even more OP. Here’s the problem. It’s strong but you can easily screw it up especially if you don’t know what can screw things up. In order to better understand how we’re going to snapshot poison, let’s look at poison first.

“Poison Coat – Cast the Poison effect on the enemy, each layer of which inflicts _%(+____) ATK DMG for 12 seconds. 1 layer is stacked upon each basic attack received from an assassin to a maximum of 15 layers (17 if upgraded). The layers will be passed on to the nearby target enemy upon the target’s death.”

Let’s dumb things down so that it’s easier to understand. When you use poison, you apply 1 layer of poison to that monster and every normal attack you do will add an additional layer until the duration of poison expires or the boss dies. The poison layers can fall off if the boss dies during application or if you do not reset the timer. The duration of poison can be reset with Shiv or by reapplying Poison but you can ONLY snapshot poison when using poison and not when you’re attempting to reset the timer with Shiv.

So there’s a lot of emphasis on Poison Coat while Shiv is literally just to reset the timer on poison. That being said, let’s forget about Shiv and focus on poison.

Now that we know all the attention should be on poison, is it just a matter of throwing buffs on poison? The answer is no. Why? It’s not that simple because poison’s damage resets upon reapplication of poison as long as maximum layers of poison has not been reached. If you apply poison at the start of the fight, you will gain anywhere from 8 to 11 layers depending on the skills and toys you use before you end up re-applying poison. If you buff poison at the start, your poison’s damage will be buffed but the moment you reapply poison the second time around because of the fact that poison has not hit maximum layers, your poison’s damage will drop.

The idea is to throw all your buffs at the second application of poison because by the second time you apply poison, you will hit max layers thus essentially freezing the buffs in your poison coat for the remainder of the fight. The longer the fight lasts, the more damage your poison will do so if you can freeze the buffs into your poison by snapshotting the buffs, you will do massive single target damage over time.

Hero Training Ground

**Added 08/27/20**

With the recent addition of Hero Training Grounds, Assassins now have a place to see what their best damage rotations are and test individual output. While it’s only been out for a while and with the help of Cams of Global server, we’ve put together a list of information that will help you improve your overall individual damage output in order for you to improve your class-server ranking. From experimentation, the information below provides the highest damage ceiling output especially when buffed with attack food and quick battle(QB).

SKILLS:

The idea is to get into poison immediately and transform immediately under Bush and Blackmoblin buffing transformation. There’s a lot of conversations regarding what the best dps skill to run is between Reverberating Slam 2 and Reckless Lunge. While Reverb 2 gives a more consistent high average damage, Reckless Lunge offers a higher damage ceiling due to multi-hits in combination with tiger. Pursuing 2 is out of the conversation as its special effect does not occur since the Dummy merely soaks up damage but does not drop in HP thus not being able to fulfill the hp threshold requirement. This rotation works if you have legendary + gifting and above. If you have below legendary + gifting, start your rotations with Bush + Black Moblin instead of Poison and continue down the skillset. To make the most out of your damage, line up your secret attacks with Bush+Black Moblin buff.

Crystals:

The crystal set above is set to deal as much damage as possible. Pursuing and Crystals are your utility crystals that add more damage based on normal attack and jaw procs. As for stats, as long as you are maxing all atk crit and impale related stat crystals, you should be pumping out as much optimal damage possible. Be wary of gifting crystal level as that may change your skill rotation order.

Pets/PetSkills:

Overcharge and Inspire are your best bets when it comes to maximizing overall damage. While rend would naturally be better especially with low Overcharge levels, we’re trying to run the STRONGEST output rotation rather most consistent; after all, the only thing to be saved and recorded is the highest damage you can accomplish. Make sure to have inspire lined up and hitting your assassin prior to transforming so that Starshatter is buffed. From what we noticed from pet choices, while we initially though that as long as the pet used had high assist, that would be enough but from several tests and experiments, elemental rating also plays a role after discovering that we dealt more damage with Thunder King Dragon with high assist rather than using for example the Pig that had more assist but a lower elemental rating.

PANDA IS THE BEST PET FOR ASSASSINS.

Clatter Cards:

While I heavily endorse my modified jaw clatter set for late game assassins, the original jaw clatter set deals more damage to dummy since Oasis and Radobaan’s effect does not trigger since the hp threshold requirement cannot be met since Dummy HP does not drop when receiving damage. I hope none of you sold your original jaw clatter set. 🙂
